The Kayak Slowly Bounced On The Waves

Gently, slowly, the kayak slid across the bay. My legs were braced against the interior of the boat as I moved along. Little waves bobbed me in the water like a dead stick. Paddle. Paddle. Rest. Paddle. Paddle. Rest. The water tasted salty as it splashed into my mouth. Beautiful white egrets glided along the sandy shore. Paddle. Paddle. I rotated the paddle a quarter of a turn with each stroke. Rest. My mind drifted to the beauty of the nature around me. The island in the far distance, the tree covered cliffs dropping into the bay, a seal that poked his head out of the water to watch my progress, the green of the rolling California hills in the springtime. All I needed to do was to watch the glitter of the water and stroke. Children laughed and ran on the beaches as we glided past them.
